The Truth about Low Back Pain

Monday, October 30, 2023 The Truth about Low Back Pain

ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “The Truth about Low Back Pain”, on Monday, October 30 at 6:45 PM. Dr. Jeff Kurtz of Kinetic Physical Therapy will be the speaker. For decades, back pain has been treated with a series of X-rays, MRI’s, steroid medication, injections, and surgeries. However, the U.S. healthcare system has been getting progressively worse at treating low back pain. With more and more jobs becoming sedentary and following the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a rise in the incidence of low back pain in the U.S. healthcare system. Now, low back pain treatment accounts for 25% of all health care expenses, and is the number one health reason that people miss days of work. This presentation details how we have gotten to where we are in the treatment of low back pain and provides recommendations for managing/avoiding this very common issue. This event is free and open to the public. The program will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person. Registration is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville/low-back-pain or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Email mpinto@ccls.org for more information. Also, sign up for a free orthopedic screening or an “Ask the Doctor” session at the Library immediately before the presentation to get all of your questions answered!
