ABOUT THE EVENT
In honor of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, the Chester County Community Foundation will host a special American Revolution Watch Party on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 12:00–1:15 p.m. at The Lincoln Building, 28 West Market Street, West Chester.
More than a film screening, the Watch Party offers a chance for community members to come together to explore shared history and reflect on the values that continue to shape American democracy. The event will feature a 45-minute General Overview screening from THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, followed by light refreshments and an engaging group discussion.
THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION is a landmark six-part, 12-hour documentary series from Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt. The General Overview presentation introduces the series’ central themes, offering audiences a sweeping look at the ideas, struggles, and ideals that defined the nation’s founding.
The full series brings to life America’s fight for independence through the perspectives of Patriots and Loyalists, Native Americans, enslaved and free African Americans, soldiers, and European allies. It explores the Revolution as a war for independence, a civil war, and a global conflict—one that reshaped notions of liberty and equality and commemorates the 250th anniversary of the war’s outbreak in 1775.
Chester County residents are especially encouraged to participate, as the region played a pivotal role in Revolutionary War history, including the 1777 Philadelphia Campaign, the Battle of Brandywine in Chadds Ford, and the events leading to the Continental Army’s winter at Valley Forge.
Admission is free and open to the public. RSVPs are appreciated at (610) 696-8211 or CCCF250@chescocf.org, though walk-ins are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring a friend and their curiosity.
