WHYY Bridging Blocks: Artificial Intelligence: Embrace or Fear It?

Monday, June 08, 2026 WHYY Bridging Blocks: Artificial Intelligence: Embrace or Fear It?

ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a neighborhood discussion through WHYY’s Bridging Blocks initiative on Monday, June 8, 6:00 – 7:30 PM, at the Library. The topic is “Artificial Intelligence: Embrace or Fear It?”. The event will be moderated by Brisa Luzzi Castro, WHYY’s Community Convener.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how people work, learn, create and communicate. AI is becoming part of daily life for many Chester County residents, from creating grocery lists, explaining new concepts, writing emails, and even customer service. It appears in all aspects of our lives, including our schools, the workplace, research, and medicine, among others. As helpful as artificial intelligence can be, what are some of the risks it poses? How has AI positively and negatively impacted your own life? And who should be responsible for setting boundaries — individuals, corporations or government? How do we make AI trustworthy?

Bridging Blocks is a series of neighborhood discussions aimed at bringing together culturally and politically diverse households for civic dialogue and understanding. Join WHYY News Community & Engagement team for Bridging Blocks, in partnership with The Free Library of Philadelphia, PECO, and supported by Fred and Barbara Sutherland.
