West Chester, PA – February 9, 2016 – Benchmark Federal Credit Union allows employees at all branches to wear jeans to work on Fridays in exchange for a monthly donation to a community charity. At the end of the year, the funds raised are given to a Chester County nonprofit. For 2015, a donation of $1,860 was awarded to Home of the Sparrow in Exton, which partners with women facing homelessness to secure housing, achieve long-term stability, and chart new paths for their futures. www.homeofthesparrow.org.
“Benchmark believes in empowering women, especially in financial matters,” says Rebecca Worthington, Benchmark Marketing Director. “We are inspired by the good work Home of the Sparrow does in addressing the realities and challenges of being a single mother, which can be daunting.”
Benchmark is also the title sponsor of the upcoming Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference, which was originally formed four years ago by 12 nonprofits in the county, including Home of the Sparrow.
“Benchmark will join dozens of other resources at the event, and we will offer valuable financial information regarding budgeting, savings and checking accounts, loans; as well as provide free credit reports,” Worthington says.
Open to all single mothers, the event is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at Henderson High School in West Chester from 8AM to 3PM. Free on-site childcare will be provided. Follow the Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SingleMothersCC.
