Blobfest Returns! Tickets Go On Sale Friday For July 2021 Events

May 26, 2021

Blobfest is typically held the weekend after July 4, and to honor that tradition the festival will use the same three-day weekend schedule on the weekend of July 9-11. Because the Borough of Phoenixville is abstaining from any public festivals until Oct. 1, Blobfest will for the second year in a row be celebrated virtually, said Colonial Theatre Marketing Manager Bob Trate.

The theme for Blobfest 2021 is the House of Harris, in honor of the producer of the iconic film, “The Blob,” Jack H. Harris. Blobfest 2021: House of Harris will feature the following Harris-produced films: The Blob (1958), Dinosaurus! (1960), Equinox (1970), and 4D Man (1959).

The festival will also feature the Vincent Price horror classic, The Last Man on Earth (1964). The Blob will screen on all three days of the virtual presentation.

Blobfest will continue the tradition of the iconic Run-Out from the film. Once again we will ask fans to submit their home run-out videos for us to compile into a virtual presentation for all to see.

Another tradition that we continue is the Miss Blobfest pageant. Starting May 3, any fan is able to submit a video into the competition for why they would make the ideal Miss Blobfest for 2021.

The third and final tradition for Blobfest is the “Shortys.” This is our short film competition named after the Blob’s director Irvin “Shorty” Yeaworth Jr. There are four categories for the competition: Under 18, Over 18, Animated, and Fan Favorite.

In the weeks leading up to Blobfest 2021: House of Harris, we will be announcing additional competitions, guests, and additions to the programming that will be hosted by our own Dash Daring, portrayed by Chuck Francisco.

Official Blobfest 2021: House of Harris swag will also be revealed in the form of a commemorative T-shirt by Donald David, a poster by Quiltface Studios, and new unique tchotchkes.
