New York, NY – In its 6th year, the New York International Spirits Competition (“NYISC”) was held at 3 West Club on October 18th to taste, evaluate, and judge almost 500 of the world’s best-distilled spirits — a double-digit increase from last year’s submissions. Although nearly 500 spirits were contributed and judged by a panel of experts, it is in the gin and rum categories that we are interested: Phoenixville’s own Blubird Distilling having taken a Silver medal for their Sugarcane Rum, as well as a Bronze Medal for their Juniperus Gin. Bluebird Distilling was also named “Pennsylvania Gin Distillery of the Year.”
Considering that these were only the first batches to come out of this local fixture, we’re certain that the future holds great things for Phoenixville’s local distillers. As they themselves have said: “We’re just getting warmed up.”
