The following press release was sent to the Chamber for posting.
A gorgeous spring day prompted hundreds of Community Foundation supporters to meet, mingle, and sample the best-of-the-best created by Chester County’s finest dessert chefs. Over 500 guests converged on William H. Bunch Auction and Appraisals of Chadds Ford for the Community Foundation’s annual must-attend charity event.
The chefs did not hold back for this prestigious competition. In the end, the professional culinary judges awarded “Best Dessert” to John Serock Catering’s Spiced Apple and Rhubarb Taco. “Most Creative” was awarded to General Warren Inne’s S’mores Brownie. “Most Popular Dessert” was Delightful Desserts and Culinary Creations’ Citrus Triple Play.
“Healthiest Dessert” was a new category, awarded to New Street Catering’s Avocado Tequila Lime Ice Cream & Double Chocolate Avocado Ice Cream.
Board Chair William J. Gallagher Esq. noted, “This event continues to be incredible. Sweet Charity is a great way to catch up with friends old and new, and raise awareness of how people can make strategic, lasting differences in their own communities, for now and forever.”
Bill Bunch, gregarious Sweet Charity event host, spoke powerfully of his reverence for the Community Foundation’s mission to grow legacy philanthropy. “Sweet Charity puts the FUN in fundraising. Desserts, coffee, appetizers, wine, beer, flowers! Cupcake mascots, sparkly evening wear, interesting collectibles, and an array of antiques! Lots of mixing and mingling. It is an honor to help so many people get together and make a positive difference in our backyards, where we live, work and enjoy,” enthused Bunch.
Over 60 corporations and leadership patrons, led by Community Champion Sponsor Susquehanna Trust & Investment Co., helped make Sweet Charity a financial success, along with dessert donations, volunteer professional judges, and event volunteers.
March 2016 Sweet Charity is already in the works. For more details about Sweet Charity or the Community Foundation’s philanthropic programs, call (610) 696-8211 or visit www.chescocf.org .
