Chamber Mourns Betty Thierry, Past Board Member

Obituary for Elizabeth H. “Betty” Thierry

Elizabeth H. “Betty” Thierry, age 74, wife of the late Robert J. Thierry Sr., of Pottstown, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Pottstown Hospital – Tower Health. 

Born on July 6, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of Anthony and Helen (Walters) Voce. She was a graduate of J.W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School. Betty had a long and distinguished banking career, lastly with National Penn Bank, where she retired as a Vice President and Bank Manager. 

In here earlier years, she was a member of St. Anselm’s R.C. Church, Northeast Philadelphia, where she served as president of the Womens’ Club. She was an active volunteer in the Phoenixville Community. She was a member of the Phoenixville Rotary Club, where she was the first woman president. She was also a member of the Soroptimist Club of Phoenixville, where she was a former Treasurer and District 3 Secretary. She was also a past board member of Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce and past president of Chest-Mont Business and Professional Women.

Betty is survived by Daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Frank) Chytla of Downingtown, PA; Two Sons, Robert J. (Stacey) Thierry of Pottstown, PA, William M. (Eva) Thierry of Pottstown, PA; Siblingss: Lenora Voce, Anthony Jr. (Teresa), Catherine Hood (William), Martha Voce, Frank Voce (Theresa), James Voce (Jody) Helena Kelly (William); Grandchildren, Amber, Randy, Ashley, Alexandria, Madison, Bobby and Sam; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Conner. She was aslo pre-deceased by a sister, Maryann Hughes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass at St. Ann Chapel, 604 South Main Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. John J. Newns. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday from 9:00 to 10:45 am at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home Inc., Main St. at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Phoenixville Soroptimist, P.O. Box 705, Phoenixville, PA 19460 or Phoenixville Rotary Club, P.O.
