Charitable Clinic in Phoenixville hosts Open House & Tour

November 12, 2015

Phoenixville, PA November 10, 2015:   The Clinic, a charitable healthcare facility will host an Open House and Tour to offer uninsured and underserved population with access to quality healthcare.  New patients, social service agencies, and local businesses-are encouraged to visit and tour the facility, and meet its dedicated staff. “We are honored to serve the people of Chester and Montgomery Counties,” said Thomas Burd, Executive Director. “There are still many people in our area without medical insurance or who are underinsured. Our hope is to reach as many of them as we can.”  In fact, despite the milestones with the Affordable Care Act, 40,000 residents in Chester County and 39,000 in Montgomery County are still without medical insurance-and many others are employed but unable to afford the high deductibles associated with their insurance.

Attendees to the Open House will meet The Clinic’s new Medical Director, Dr. George Spyropoulos, a Chester County native who has more than 20 years of experience as a family physician and medical educator, and learn more about the many services The Clinic provides to the community. In fact, physicians and staff from as many as 25 different medical specialties come to The Clinic to help patients with needs ranging from maternal medicine to diabetes and heart disease. More than 120 people volunteer to coordinate care for these patients.

As a charitable clinic, patients are asked to “pay what they can.” The Clinic receives no government funding and operates from foundation grants, donor support, fundraising and volunteers.   Phoenixville Community Health Foundation and Independence Blue Cross Foundation are the largest contributors to The Clinic.
