Chester County Keeps Pace with Region’s Increase in Craft Distilleries

March 27, 2018 Chester County Keeps Pace with Region’s Increase in Craft Distilleries

he Philadelphia region is seeing an increase in craft distilleries, and Chester County is keeping pace with not only the ones it already has established but also some new ones, writes Brian Bingaman for the Daily Local News.

The boom dates back to the days before Prohibition, when Pennsylvania was home to some of the nation’s densest clusters of homespun and commercial whiskey producers. What helped was a bill from the state government six years ago that allows distillers to offer tours and samples, along with on-site sales.

Phoenixville’s Bluebird Distilling has seen its products become so popular that it has already expanded into Center City after just two years of operations.

There are also some newer products in the county, like Revivalist Spirits in Elverson. Its distillery and tasting room are both part of Brandywine Branch Bistro, which offers Revivalist’s products on weekdays from 9 AM-3 PM.

Another craft distillery in the works is in Malvern, where Pennsylvania Distilling is expected to open later this year.
