PHOENIXVILLE, PA (April 6, 2017) — After a successful first step with last month’s Run Lola Run screening and Chaos Theory discussion, The Colonial Theatre goes beyond the dimensions of time and space in April with its second Science on Screen event – Primer with special guest speaker Brian Yust, PhD, Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics at Philadelphia University.
The brainchild of engineer-turned-filmmaker Shane Carruth, Primer is a modern sci-fi masterpiece that demonstrates what an inventive director can do with a minuscule budget. Two members of a software development team create a device that allows them to peek into the future. Unfortunately, their spacetime continuum meddling may lead to catastrophe.
A recent addition to the Philadelphia University faculty, Dr. Brian Yust’s current research focuses on the fabricating and implementing novel nanoparticles for biomedical imaging and cancer therapy. His previous work includes, nonlinear imaging, optical phase conjugation, and time-reversal through four wave mixing. In his spare time, he reads comic books and imagines how superpowers could be possible.
Science on Screen (SoS) is a national film initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Each SoS event pairs a film from any genre with a special guest who discusses a specific scientific topic and demonstrates its relation to the film.
