The Resident Theatre Company is thrilled to announce the cast and design team for Bullets Over Broadway The Musical, a new musical comedy first produced on Broadway in 2014 and based on the Oscar-winning film. Bullets Over Broadway is a comic take on the classic musical, with big music numbers, tap dancing gangsters, and hits from the roaring 1920’s like “Let’s Misbehave”, “Tain’t Nobody’s Biz-ness If I Do,” and “There’s a New Day Comin”!
The cast features seven New York performers including Broadway veteran Vincent D’Elia who will play Nick Valenti, a mob boss who will do anything to give his no-talent girlfriend a shot on Broadway. D’Elia was seen on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman, Grease, and Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, and in the first national tours of The Who’s Tommy and Evita.
Robert Anthony Jones will appear as Warner Purcell, the pompous Broadway star whose appetite for dramatic love is only matched by his…appetite. He was seen on Broadway in Finding Neverland, Off-Broadway in The Prince and the Pauper, and in the National Tours of Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, and The 101 Dalmatians Musical.
Michael Judson Berry (National Tour: Monty Python’s Spamalot) will play David Shayne, the green playwright coaxed into casting Nick Valenti’s girlfriend, Olive (Karis Gallant) and utterly derailing his first big Broadway show before it can even begin.
Philadelphia favorite and two-time Barrymore Award winner Jennie Eisenhower joins the cast as Helen Sinclair, the peerless diva who agrees to play the lead in David’s play. Taylor Hatch will play Nick Valenti’s right-hand man, Cheech. Bailey Seeker and Paul Weagraff will play David Shaye’s long-suffering wife and his hazardous agent. Maggie Griffin-Smith joins the cast as Eden. Kristen Smith, Derek Leo Miller, Joshua Schwartz, Jenna Rogalski, Dante Bratelli, and Phoebe Gavula complete the cast as ensemble members.
RTC has also put together an award-winning design team for the biggest show of their season. The team includes renowned set designer Mary Hamrick (Broadway: Rocky, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Cher Show), costume designer Kayla Speedy, lighting designer Mike Inwood, sound designer Lucas Fendlay, and props designer Angela Kozinski.
The show will be directed by RTC’s Producing Artistic Director Kristin McLaughlin Mitchell (Broadway: Lend Me a Tenor), choreographed by Dann Dunn (National Tour: The Music Man), and music directed by Barrymore Award Winner Amanda Morton (Theatre Horizon’s Into the Woods).
Tickets for Bullets Over Broadway The Musical are on sale now at www.rtcwc.org ($25-$53). The show runs March 30 — April 15 at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center in West Chester.
