This year the Schuylkill River Heritage Center is honoring Mary Foote, the Executive Director at the historic Colonial Theatre at its 7th Annual Heritage Award Celebration.
She has been the theatre’s Executive Director since 1999, and the entire region has benefited from her leadership. Working with her dedicated group of volunteers, she has transformed the theatre into a gathering place for people of all ages.
The Colonial Theatre presents live programs, including a fall concert series and a children’s theatre program during the summer. These special events, along with the classic, independent, cult, art, and children’s films featured at the theatre, have helped to bring about Phoenixville’s renaissance. By promoting the adaptive reuse of this cultural and historic treasure, she has fostered the sustainability of an historic community resource that honors and interprets Phoenixville’s remarkable legacy.
This year the Heritage Center also created a theme for the event that is compatible with our honoree’s work. “A Night at the Movies” will be held on Thursday, October 6th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. at The Foundry. Admission is $75.00 per person. To attend the Heritage Award Celebration, call 610-935-2181 or email: info@phoenixvillefoundry.org by September 23rd.
Along with a special dinner, Greg Hytha’s band, Rhythm & Blondes, will provide live music from famous movies. Jim Batty’s group, Events That Entertain, will show snippets from famous movies on several screens in the Foundry Building.
The proceeds from the Heritage Award Celebration will be used to upgrade the Schuylkill River Heritage Center’s interactive kiosks, incorporating the latest 21st century technology that will benefit everyone who visits the museum. Our History APP for both Android and iPhones features over 80 places in the region, and this will be included as part of the kiosk upgrades.
The Heritage Celebration event would not be possible without the generous support provided by our sponsors. We especially thank Hankin Phoenixville Foundry Partners for providing the Foundry Building space, and also thank Allan Myers, Aqua America, Beausang, Butera, Cohen and Brennan, Ches-Mont Valley Ventures, Colonial Gardens, Frees Insurance, JB Productions, PECO, Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust, Phoenixville Hospital, Queen of Hearts Catering, and Sly Fox Brewing Company for helping to make this event such a special and unique occasion for all to enjoy.
We also appreciate the support given by Black Walnut Winery, Environmental Standards, Marian & David Moskowitz, OWM Law, and Rhythm & Blondes.
