New Medicine and Healthcare Leadership Summer Camp for Area Students

January 26, 2017

The Clinic now offers a one-week, hands-on summer camp for girls and boys ages 12-14 who are interested in exploring careers in science, medicine, and healthcare.

Phoenixville, PA January 2017:  The Clinic is proud to debut a one-week Medicine and Healthcare Leadership Camp (MHLC), which will provide a unique summer learning experience for students interested in careers in science, medicine, and healthcare.

Available for girls and boys ages 12-14, MHLC offers a project-based learning model that will provide hands-on learning opportunities for students. Camp topics will include: providing a vital sign assessment, performing suture techniques, learning what blood tells us about the human body, and understanding how food is medicine. All students will also become CPR/First Aid certified, and have the opportunity to meet experts from various medical professions and disease areas.

Students and their families can choose between two different dates and locations: July 10-14, 2017 at Immaculata University or July 31-August 4, 2017 at Villanova University. The camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Before and after care is available for an additional charge. The cost for the program is $799 if students register before February 28, 2017.

“The Clinic has two important roles in the community,” says Thomas Burd, Executive Director.  “We are committed to meeting the needs of the underserved patients. And, as part of that mission, we believe it is important to provide educational opportunities for the next generation of healthcare leaders, who can sustain this work.” The Clinic additionally created the well-regarded Girls in Medicine program for high-school age girls last year.  To learn more about the Medicine and Healthcare Leadership Camp or to register, visit www.clinicyouthprograms.org or call 610-935-5464.
