Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive

May 17, 2016 Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive

CHESTER COUNTY: May 16th, 2016

With the end of the school year fast approaching, 13,000 students in Chester County will face an uncertain daily meal since school will be out of session. The Chester County Food Bank & United Way of Chester County are teaming up to help fill the shelves of neighbors in need with a high demand food that is a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals, is easy for a child to use to make a sandwich, and is a classic favorite for many no matter the age: peanut butter & jelly!

As a celebration of community participation in this program, the Chester County Food Bank and the United Way will be holding a “weigh-in,” accompanied by a gourmet PB & J cafe, on Friday, June 3rd, at the Chester County Food Bank in the Eagleview Corporate Center (650 Pennsylvania Dr., Exton, PA).

Simply follow these steps to participate!

STEP 1
Gather your friends, family, coworkers and coordinate a drive at your church, school, workplace or organization (scouts, Rotary, sports team, neighborhood, etc.).
STEP 2
Start collecting! Donate any brand or type of peanut butter or jelly. We recognize that some people have peanut allergies, so feel free to also collect almond butter, sunflower butter or other alternative butters. It’s your choice! (Please no glass jars, homemade or expired items.)
STEP 3
On Friday, June 3rd, bring your donations to the Chester County Food Bank for your official “weigh in”. While you’re getting your tally enjoy gourmet PB & J (served by United Way staff) and tour the Food Bank.

Individuals and groups interested in participating should contact Anne Shuniak of the Chester County Food Bank, via email at ashuniak@chestercountyfoodbank.com.
