Over the past year with the addition of several new craft wine, beer and spirits producers, Phoenixville has literally become a destination spot for those looking to keep their libation consumption super local! We now have many businesses within a few blocks of each other where folks can sample and enjoy locally-produced wines, beer, and distilled spirits. We saw a need to get the word out to the drinking public that in a very small area of historic downtown Phoenixville, there is virtually something for everyone.
To facilitate this cause, the owners and managers of several of these local businesses have decided to come together to create the first of what we hope will be many events we’ll participate in together. The Phlight of the Phoenix is a bar tour unlike no other, in that it is comprised of tasting rooms and wine bars serving only locally-produced distilled spirits, wine and beer.. The tour challenges guests to stop in to each of the participating producer’s tasting rooms and enjoy a flight or tasting of their offerings. Guests will take their “boarding pass” around to each location, where it will be punched once they have purchased their flight or tasting. Once they have visited each stop on the tour, they will have completed the Phlight of the Phoenix! In addition to bragging rights, participants who complete the challenge will receive a t-shirt that proudly declares their victory, and showcases the logos of all the stops. Visitors who choose to “take phlight” will have the opportunity to taste wine beer and spirits from The Barrel by A’Dello Vineyard and Winery, Bluebird Distilling, Black Walnut Winery, Iron Hill Brewery and Stable 12 Brewery.
This fun and unique tour is slotted for Saturday, August 22nd from 12-11PM. The Phlight is meant to be completed in one day, so guests should remember to spread out their stops throughout the day, stay hydrated, and take advantage of all the amazing food that these businesses, and the town of Phoenixville have to offer. Remember to drink responsibly and travel with a designated driver! There is no cost to receive your “boarding pass”, which will be available in all of the designated stops, the borough hall, and other locations around Phoenixville. Participants will pay the designated costs for each tasting or flight they consume, which will vary by location but for most is under $15.
