Phoenix Village Art Center Executive Director Retires

August 12, 2015

After 12 years of service, founder Kathy Bestwick is retiring.

Phoenixville, PA: The Board of Directors of the Phoenix Village Art Center has announced that its founder and Executive Director Kathy Bestwick has retired effective immediately. Her vision of a vibrant community art center began in 2002, and Ms. Bestwick has tirelessly pursed the mission of the art center.

Board President, Joan Beregi said, “Given the clear course set by Kathy Bestwick and with the help of our staff, teachers and volunteers, we are confident that the art center will continue to serve the arts community in Phoenixville for many years to come.”

Under Ms. Bestwick’s  leadership the Phoenix Village Art Center has supported many cultural events including the Firebird Festival, Blobfest, and the Phoenixville Area Community Services Empty Bowls event.
For the past thirteen years, the Art Center has provided hundreds of adults and children with art education offered by qualified art educators as well as an art-focused summer camp. The Center rents private art studios to professional artists that add a robust artistic vibe to the community. Every month the Center provides a brand new gallery opening on First Friday bringing artists, art buyers and enthusiasts together.

As she retired, Ms. Bestwick said, “It has been my privilege to provide residents of Phoenixville with access to art and culture in their daily lives.” The Board of Directors deeply thanks her and will work to continue to be a creative haven for the arts in the community.
