Phoenixville Area High School has once again been recognized by the Washington Post as one of America’s Most Challenging High Schools, coming in #5 in Pennsylvania, and #550 in the country. To view the listing, click here!
This is the second year in a row for Phoenixville to be in the Top 10 in the state, appearing at #7 last year. The rankings are based on the number of Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate and Advanced international Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year. PAHS currently offers 24 Advanced Placement courses, with almost half of the students in the high school taking at least one AP course this school year. Last spring, 848 students took one or more AP tests.
Dr. Alan Fegley was quick to praise ALL staff, faculty and administrators in “guiding and helping students to grow to their full potential, opening doors that they (the students) may not have even known were possible.”
The hard work is paying off for this year’s senior class, as many are in the process in selecting colleges and universities to attend in the fall. These are just some of the outstanding institutions which have extended an invitation to one or more of our current seniors: Amherst, Boston University, Brown, Cornell, Drexel, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Northeastern, University of Pennsylvania, and William and Mary.
