(Phoenixville/Pottstown, PA – April 2024) – Tower Health announced that longtime employee Richard McLaughlin, MD, MBA has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenixville Hospital and Pottstown Hospital. “I am excited to be stepping into the role of President and CEO,” says Dr. McLaughlin. “I look forward to working with these two hospital staffs to achieve our vision and strategy for each hospital. Dr. McLaughlin will be responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance for both Phoenixville Hospital and Pottstown Hospital. He will chart a strategy for these two hospitals’ next chapter, and he will oversee all critical strategic, operational, and business building areas.

Dr. McLaughlin started at Pottstown Hospital in 1999 as an attending Emergency Medicine physician, and, in 2005, he took on the role of Chairman and Medical Director of Emergency Medicine. In 2015, he became the Chief Medical Officer at Pottstown Hospital and promoted to Chief Medical Officer of both Pottstown and Phoenixville Hospitals in 2022. Additionally, from 2007 to 2019, Dr. McLaughlin was President and CEO of Tri-County Emergency Physicians.
Dr. McLaughlin graduated cum laude from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, where he received his Doctor of Medicine, and he completed his Residency in Emergency Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He also holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. McLaughlin and his family have lived in Phoenixville for more than 25 years.
