PHOENIXVILLE

The Girls In Medicine program run by the Clinic in Phoenixville, has received a welcome boost in the form of a $10,000 grant from the McLean Contributionship to help purchase equipment for its program that helps high school girls who want to pursue a career in medicine.

The Girls In Medicine program is an intensive one-year program aimed at providing guidance for highly motivated and talented high school girls interested in pre-medicine and health care careers. The program gives them the chance to learn from top medical leaders in the area and to study at the Paoli and Phoenixville Hospital facilities. As a part of the initiative, they will also gain medical research and presentation skills, obtain CPR/First Aid Certifications, receive volunteer and internship opportunities, and gain leadership experience as health ambassadors.

The McLean Contributionship, which is based in Wayne, supports local projects that promote education and motivate promising young people to assess and develop their talents despite social and economic obstacles.
