(Reading, PA) — Scott L. Gruber, president and CEO of Tompkins VIST Bank has been named Alvernia’s 2016-2017 Executive in Residence. He will be leading students in an interactive lecture at Alvernia University on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2:45 p.m., in the university’s Campus Commons building. As Alvernia’s Executive in Residence, Gruber will meet with business students and faculty to share lessons learned over his more than 30 years of experience in the financial services field.
Alvernia University launched its Executive in Residence program last fall, as a partnership between the O’Pake Institute for Ethics, Leadership and Public Service and the university’s Business Department. The program provides students unprecedented, personal access to corporate executives.
“This program is designed to help bridge the gap between academic preparation and what is expected in the corporate work world,” explains Don Schalk, director of business and corporate development at Alvernia. “It’s part of Alvernia’s strategy to give students exposure to real-world lessons and connect the campus to businesses in the region.”
