                        Pa.  19512

U.S. Representative Madeleine Dean (D-Pa. 4th District) is scheduled to visit  Boyertown’s Colebrookdale Railroad Thursday, August 19, to see first-hand the railyard she’s supporting through proposed $1.3m community project funding.

The site on South Washington Street, right in the heart of Boyertown, is a hub of railroad, freight, auto, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.  It’s mainly recognized now as the parking lot for those riding excursion trains and railbikes.  However, the Colebrookdale has been working to transform the space from a gravel lot into an Edwardian garden that will not only continue to serve riders, but will also be available as a community event space.  According to CRR President Nathaniel Guest, “The funding that Representative Dean and her office have arranged through the Community Project Funding Program will take us a long way towards that goal.”

Rep. Dean will be greeted at the Colebrookdale at 10:00am by representatives of the railroad and other elected officials.  After remarks, there will be an opportunity for tours of the train, after which those who choose to accompany Rep. Dean for a ride on our open-air railbikes will be welcome to do so.

As per current government recommendations, guests and the media are requested to wear masks and maintain safe distances from others.  The event itself will be held outdoors, with tours of the interior of the train limited.
